EPA 40 CFR 75 rule establishes continuous emission monitoring (CEM) and reporting requirements in support of EPA’s Acid Rain Program. It also establishes the NOx mass emissions and heat input under a State or Federal NOx emissions reduction program. In case for the Southern California Region, SCAQMD mandates the NOx reduction under Rules 218 and 218.1 or Rule 2012.

In addition, EPA 40 CFR 60 Subparts J & Ja establishes the standards for monitoring of emissions and operations for fuel gas combustion devices including process heaters and flares in the petroleum refineries. The standards also include the SO2 and/or H2S emissions limitations and performance tests for the monitoring system. SCAQMD also issued Rule 1118 for flares of petroleum refineries.

The FAQ will focus on the Part 75 Rule.
